Are you guys working on the c25k or c210k?  I am stuck on week 5 in the c210k.  Not sure if it's the same?  (day 2/week 5 is 5 minute warm up/run 8 mins/walk 5 mins/run 8 mins/5 min cooldown - that's where I hit a wall...took me 5 attempts to hit that goal!)  Grrr.....working on it for the FOURTH week now!  I was cruising right along until I hit day 2 of week 5.  I finally was able to meet that goal - and I made sure I hit it a couple times in a row before moving on - and now I'm onto day 3, week 5 (5 min warm up/run 20 mins/5 min cooldown - first attempt this morning...not successful)...but I'm in my 8th week.

Question - the program calls for 3 days a week (haven't missed a single one, I spread them out, 2 during the week and 1 on the weekend).  Are you guys running or doing other things on the other days?  I do some hiking on off days, but wondering if I'd be better to do some extra running days?

So frustrated.  :/

I cant seem to complete week 5. I am stuck and cant make it to the 8 minute run. Help!

What helped me was to stop worrying about the time. Tell yourself to run until you're told to walk! I stumbled onto that advice, when I thought I was doing one Week 5 workout (5min run), but had actually advanced it to the next one (8 min run). I thought it seemed I was running a long time, but I just kept going until it told me to walk. I started to try to figure it out on my walk, but didn't have my reading glasses, so again, told myself to run until I was told not to. One of my best runs! I still struggle with some of the longer runs (starting week 8 tomorrow), but I'll get there! You will too, and you will look back in a few weeks and wonder how you ever struggled with the 5inute runs!

I can't get past week 4 (5K), so I totally understand. But I also haven't lost any weight so it's very discouraging that I'm failing where so many others are succeeding.

Have you taken any measurement or photos? I took photos of myself before I started and again after 1 month. By the end of the month I had gained 1kg which was obviously muscle as I look completely different in the photos, have lost really obvious amounts off my waist/butt/thighs. Keep up the good work! Everyone is on their own journey, only be answerable to yourself. I quote I like to keep in mind is "just remember you are comparing your behind the scenes footage with everyone else's highlight reel"

Hi New Start,

You should be seeing some kind of progress with your body.  How is your eating habits?  I know that now that i am getting older, it does not come off as fast as it used to.  So I have changed my eating habits.  I do Paleo during the week with cheating on Saturdays and back to eating good on Sunday.  Your body needs a reset and you need one day to cheat, seriously!  I have been doing this for months.  Now, If you are eating healthy and working out hard, maybe its time to see a DR. and check with him/her on what you are doing?  Because you should be seeing some results.  NOw, I do love love my cocktails, and I have stopped them during the week and errhhmmm, trying to be good on the weekends, but you have to live too....

Do you track your calories?  MyFitnessPal is a good one for that.  I am religious about it.   I am on Week 3 of the 10k app and I am seeing results in my muscles and starting to slim down.  I am now curious!  I have Fitness Calculators you can use at www.cavegirlcancook.com if you would like to know your BMR, Calories, etc....  Let me know how to help you!

Hey new start, Kelly just suggested something I was going to. I've been doing this for 2 months and was seeing no difference till this last week. I started tracking my foods with my fitness app and lost 2 pounds this week. Try it! Don't give up!!

So, you just do 3 days a week and that's it?

I do a short run in between. So 3 days of c25k and 2 days of short run. Leaving Saturday and Sunday free. I was going to just walk for the 2 days if I found the program too hard but it's ok for now. I think 3 days is fine I just started out running 5 or 6 times a week till I found this app and was just afraid if I cut back I would start to slouch lol

I'm the diabetic from the "Do you follow a Food Plan?" thread.  I track all food and exercise with MFP, take my meds as scheduled, follow the running plan and chase a three-year-old and 19-month-old on the "off" days.  The only time in my life I've ever lost weight was immediately following the birth of my now-3YO.  I gained only 8 pounds during that pregnancy (used insulin the last trimester) because I was eating only 180 carbs and 1600 calories.  The day I delivered her I was 240 lbs., and a month after her arrival I weighed 190 lbs.  I've been unable to keep the weight off or get back down to that number despite all efforts.  It's *bleep*ing frustrating and depressing.  The doctors have no clue what's going on.

Hi There, I can so understand your frustration completely.  Have the Dr's done blood tests?  A blood panel to check thyroid ,etc...?   My GYN is doing that for me because as I am getting older, my weight is not dropping too fast either.   I can so understand your frustration and I feel for you.  Keep working out and eating well and definitely have some bloodwork done.  You are young enough that you metabolism should be faster.  Hey, keep me posted..  HUgs to you!

Have you checked the side affects to the medication you are taking? What about lowering your carbs. Maybe there is a different combination of a diet that would work. Everyone is different. I know how frustrating it is. Hubby is diabetic and struggles off and on with his weight. I'm always up and down too. You've probably done this too but have you seen a nutritionist? And how do you feel? Any different since starting the excersize's?

I've been on thyroid meds for nearly 6 years, and was on and off Metformin for years (for fertility treatments), but have been on Met steadily for 5 years excluding my two pregnancies.  Everything I've read says those two meds should be helping me lose weight.  The CDE/nutritionist at my endo's office told me that 90g of carbs is the minimum for brain function, but the scientific community is still debating that topic.

I don't feel any different than I did when I started the c25k program in June.  I'm tired all day, sleep poorly, no measurable improvement in just about any category I can think of.  Even after doing week 4 over and over, I can barely get through the first running segment and frequently speed-walk instead.

This isn't a problem I can solve on an internet forum, but damn I'm tired of being tired.  At least someone out there seems to think this is fixable.

When you are going through week four what is it that stops you from finishing the running part? Your legs being tired or you being out of breath? Can you tell I hate to give up? :)

Have you tried a second opinion? Seeing another dr? And then you have 19 month old and three year old??? I was tired all the time when my kids were little, I couldn't even think of exercise. Lol I don't think I started to sleep well until my youngest was 3 and out of my bed into her own. Actually I didn't even realize how bad it was till it started to get better.

Hubby is on metformin too. He did lose weight in the beginning but now if he strays off of diet he does gain.

I wish there was an easy fix for you!!! Your doing everything you could but something is off. Listen to your gut and don't give up!! I've talked to so many people who have been misdiagnosed or there drs have missed something. Then one day something changes and they have a moment where everything is clear.

Sorry, life got in the way for a bit :)

It's a combination of my legs hurting (have to be careful with a bum knee) and feeling more winded than I should after only 3 minutes.

I'm seeing my 3rd endo in 2 years - finally found a female who actually listens rather than the good ol' boy (and his partners) who blew me off. She seems puzzled as to why the weight isn't coming off, but is taking more of a whole-person approach. We're working on meds, meeting with the CDE/dietician, and of course I'm trying to stick with C25K.

I get up with my hubs (5:30 am) so I can get exercise in before the munchkins wake up. If I'm lucky they sleep long enough for me to run, shower, and get coffee down the hatch. But I'm a SAHM, and fortunately have plenty of flexibility in the schedule. It may be time, however, to look into alternative medicines. Anyone have experience with acupuncture or TCM? ;)

Have you tried slowing down? In the beginning I thought I should be going faster. Now I've slowed down and can make it through the program day that I need to complete. It may feel silly but as you increase distance you will build up your stamina. How have you been doing this week?
