plus size girl training for first 10k

My name is Amy! I'm a plus size girl training for her first 10k next year! ...10 months away in fact! Weighing in at roughly 270lbs...or just over 19st...it's gunna be a HARD road ahead but im gunna prove to myself I CAN do it. Thanks for reading, ill keep you updated as best I can!

I'm right here with you, except I weigh more. I am on week 1, day 2 and 75% through my run tonight, I got slightly discouraged. I told myself I can do it and I pushed through. I'm doing the c210k ap. This site really helped me realize that I am not alone.

You can do it!!! I just started day 1 today as well... I was pretty sure I was going to die in the process, but made it!!!

I see all of us 200+ girls looking good in the near future :))

Just finished day 1 of the 5k program. Wish I could say I felt energized and encouraged like y'all but I don't. Walked the last of the cool down in tears, even. Hate where I am. Don't know if I have what it takes to get to somewhere else.

hey! I just finished day one of the C25k. very hard but I'm a plus size girl weighing a bit more than all of y'all. but I'm getting married in March and I don't want to look like this anymore. I don't care about being a size 2. I just want to be able to play games and ride roller coasters my kids someday. good luck everyone and I look forward to tomorrow!

Congrats on your goal! You can do anything you put your mind to, just take it one step at a time and keep moving forward :)

 

I am a bit larger than you guys. I am stuck on week 4. I am going slow enough that my chest & breathing are fine, but my calves are so tight I can't finish. Any advice?

 

Try taking a break in the middle of your run to do some calf stretches. Also, make sure you're giving your calves some extra love when you stretch after each run.

I am doing week 1 day 3 today. I'm nervous for week 2. At 257 I'm just not comfortable anymore and would like to do a 10k in May. Can anyone share the routine they use for strength training on in between days?

Hi there Rachel,

 

Good for you, do not be nervous at all. You got this. Easy peasy. So proud of you.

 

There are some great apps put there for strength training. I usually do that on my no run days. I like Max Muscle for one. One day I train Arms and shoulders, one day butt and legs and abs. At least 2x a week for each one. I'm putting together a 12 week program. Look online too workouts. Let me know how I can help. Hugs.

Love the name lol. The app is called Maximum Muscles Free. I just noticed that the one on my phone is there but when I click on it to review it is not there. So maybe that one is gone now. But I do see the other one. I have an Android. I'll check on my iPad too. I love this app. Bodybuilding-apps .com

 

I weight train on the other days, upper, lower, chest, shoulders, butt, legs. Interval speed training. Love it.

Just finished week 1 day 1 and it was HARD...but I did it!

I'm a plus size girl also and tired of feeling uncomfortable in my skin. I hope I can keep this going! I hope all of us can keep this going!!!
