I hate running

Recommended Posts

I had always hated running. I've often told people if they words you ever see me running that they too should follow in suit & it could only mean one thing; Zombie Apocalypse. I also made mention that if my body were to ever be discovered on the jogging trail, one could be confident knowing that my body was drug to the location because I personally would not be there for leisure.

Fast forward to 2013, a murdered friend,

one nervouse breakdown, & one good look at a family photo & realized I looked like I had eaten a small child and was still in the process of digesting it. Had an epiphany while walking the Golden Gate Bridge with a friend & the next day

started one block walking, one block jogging for the next week. One week later I returned to the Golden gate Bridge and Ran it the following week. It was the most excillerating experience I had ever had. 4 months & many miles later I lost 45lbs & was in the best shape of my life.

Fast forward two years;

I move to Fargo North Dakota from California.

With a windchill my first Winter was -20 to -50.

No sun, no socialization other than the drinking that takes place at small street fairs, SAD kicked in & I gained 35lbs over 7 months from inactivity.

I just found this app two days ago which is perfect timing since I JUST quit smoking. Seems like the only thing that is helping me get through the anxiety and nervousness of the withdrawals is

running.... And I hate running.

I just hate the withdrawals & the feeling of not having any control while I am going through hell even more. Taking my life back one mile at a time, and who knows, maybe I'll like running, someday. Right now I finished w1d2 & can hardly breathe and it feels quite amazing actually. I'm actually looking forward to tomorrow. So those of you hard cores out there.... Any advice would be great for once I ready to brave the Fargo temps of -9 to -20 once I get my big girl panties on and step off the treadmill into the real world ;)

WOW is the first thing that pops in my head!!

2nd- love your name!!

3rd- zombie apocalypse! Lol when I started this ( I am on w7d3 now) I actually thought to myself, if there were a zombie apocalypse right now, I would be zombie food.

4th- you are strong! You CAN do this! Look at what you have gone through! YOU are the only person that can stop YOU from succeeding.

5th- I am sooo looking forward to your success stories!! Run on honey badger!!

In spite of and because of all that you have been through, I am excited for you. I see a woman willing to take one tiny step forward and then another and another. I also notice your life-affirming humor! It is a must to laugh at ourselves at times, right!  I am inspired; I am moved and I am also reminded to enjoy my small steps because they sure do add up! Thank you. You are a perfect example:

·         (paraphrasing what you wrote) Week one I started one block walking.  Week 2, I was one block jogging, and then one week later I ran the Golden Gate Bridge! I was so exhilarated! I kept at this for 4 months and overtime I lost 45lbs!

·         “Taking my life back one mile at a time…”

·         “Right now I finished w1d2 and I can hardly breathe. It feels amazing ….”

First of all … CONGRATS on w1d2!!

You’ve already proven you can push past areas you strongly believed you disliked (running) AND you have certainly overcome the disturbing and shocking loss of a friend.   I have no doubt in my mind you can overcome Fargo North Dakota’s bitter cold, your withdrawals and depression.  Why? Cuz … you’ve already taken the first two steps. J

I’m wearing big girl panties too!  Mind you, it’s not as cold, yet my eyelashes froze on the first day, I sounded funny when talking; I was fearful I wouldn’t feel a snot-sicle forming ;) , and I just finished W1D3!   Can’t wait to hear what steps you take next! <3  CHEERS!
