I have walked several 5k races but this summer my family and I are going to WDW and on a Disney Cruise where I want to not only have the stamina to make it all day Florida heat but to also run (not Walk) in the Caribbean islands 5k race.

Hang in there Ebony. I too have given up in the past. It's not a failure if you learn and grow each time. We will make it to the finish line this time!

    Greetings everyone,
My name is Ebony and im a want to be runner. Lol. I’ve tried this program several time in the past and have given up each time. Hopefully I can remain motivated to continue. My goal is to run (not Walk) a 5k in the Caribbean while on vacation this summer.

Hi, I'm Susan and my goal is to complete a 5k. I would prefer to run it but have TKR and not sure how running is going to play out for me. I may end up speed walking which is a sport I am keenly interested in but cannot find any local (Sacramento) groups or someone to hire as a coach while learning. So, I'm here, C25K will most certainly get me closer to my goal than doing nothing at all... hahaha. #wishmeluck to stick with my determinations.

I'm just starting today. Hopefully you are going strong and ready for your first 5k. Do you have any tips to stay on track and motivated?

Hello! Just getting going with the app. Right now the weather here isn't fit for running so I am on the treadmill.  I purposely restarted week one. Trying to make sure I am adapted before I move to the next week. This is all very new to me but I am determined to succeed!

I have the 5k app, so I can't tell you. You can scroll past the days to the right in the app and see on what week it ends.

As for music, I made a playlist using the phone's default program instead of Google Play (it was recommended to do that to be able to have a playlist that worked with the c25k app).
I'd go to music through the c25k app, not find my playlist, click on play all (or something like that; it has been a while since I've gone there), then go out of the music, then back in (sometimes doing that again) before I even saw my playlist, so I said, Forget that! and went through the Nike app to get to the playlist. I love doing it that way, as it always starts up when my workout (run) starts, and will continue playing until I press stop on the run. In other words, it plays the list over and over again if I'm running long enough.
But I really liked the c25k for those first weeks of direction, being told when to start running and when to stop. It helps you figure out where you are and what you can do, plus gets you used to getting out there to do the run.

The C25k app seems willing to connect with Google Fit, and Google Fit claims they are connected, but info is never written to Google Fit (I've tried a couple or more times).
I don't have any apps connected to c25k, but when I run, I run the Nike app along with it. Well, I've stopped using the c25k app (explanations are at the end of my Training for April 5k thread (under Accountability)), so I only use the Nike app now.
I bought the c25k app and, like you said, there isn't much difference. I don't regret buying it, as it didn't cost very much and really helped me run during those first several runs when I wanted to just give up.
I find that several apps can run at the same time.
I can't help you with any of the others as I don't have them on my phone.

Still here and still training. For the most part I have been keeping up with my schedule. It has been a journey. Still keeping my sites on running an entire 5K and I believe I'm on track. I don't get here on the forum quite as much. The weather here has warmed up and that means doing things that have taken a backseat during the winter. Camping, backpacking and motorcycle riding... I'll keep checking in and seeing how everyone is doing. Just a little more lurking than posting going on these days. The turnover on the board seems to fit in with people completing the program, and this makes sense to me. You can always give me a nudge or message me through the forum.
Best of luck to everyone and remember... a mile is a mile, no matter how many minutes it takes to finish!

Don’t be flustered! This is a journey my friend and it will take some time. I wish I could help with all your app intergrations but I don’t use them. I have a fitbit HR and I use myfitnesspal for all my food. Hopefully someone here can help you out! Lots of great folks posting on this forum.  Best of luck to you and hang in there!

Several reviewers said this doesn't ride up. Hanes Women's Bike Shorts
I would read a bunch of the reviews (both good, medium, and bad) to make sure they are something I would want, but from what I've read, these are good for the price.

You can always get a pair of biking shorts. They are a little longer and if you get the ones with spandex in them, they fit nice and snug and won't ride up.

Being able to run 10 minutes at a shot would still give a person decent 5K pace.

The schedule I would choose would be more like this:
    Week 1 - Run 30 seconds walk 1 and 1/2 minutes
    Week 2 - Run 1 minute walk 1 and 1/2 minutes
    Week 3 - Run 1 and 1/2 minutes walk 2 minutes
    Week 4 - Run 2 minutes walk 2 and 1/2 minutes
    Week 5 - Run 2 and 1/2 minutes walk 3 minutes
    Week 6 - Run 3 minutes walk 3 minutes
Week 7- Run 3 and 1/2 minutes walk 3 minutes
    Week 8 - Run 4 minutes walk 3 minutes
    Week 9 - Run 4 and 1/2 minutes walk 3 minutes
    Week 10 - Run 5 minutes walk 3 minutes
    Week 11 - run 6 minutes walk 3 minutes
Week 12- Run 7 Minutes walk for 3 minutes
    Week 13 - Run 8 minutes walk 3 or 4 minutes
    Week 14 - Run 9 Minutes walk 3 or 4 minutes
    Week 15 - Run 10 minutes walk 3 or 4 minutes
I would try that and see if it worked, and if it did I would continue in that manner, adding only one minute per week, unless by the time I got to 10 minutes, I could add two or three minutes a week.

If I was going to make a c25k program, I would make it more realistic. I think the person who created the program has no idea what it's like to have never run. Nor do they have a clue about how difficult it is to run if a person is very much overweight.
I mean, if a person is running with a 50 lb pack on their back, or 100 or 200, they might have a clue. People who are very much overweight are actually getting a whole lot more of a workout than someone who appears to be in shape, and I really admire overweight people who stick with the program, because it is not easy at all. You don't get enough credit for how hard you work and for what you do every time you do some kind of exercise program. You should be treated with admiration and love and I don't think that happens often enough.

I think I've been doing this program for over 12 weeks. It's kind of difficult to know for sure, because I restarted week 1 a couple of times. And I don't think I joined the forum until I had run for a week, but I'm not sure. It looks like 12 weeks since I joined the forum though.

Anyway, here's my review of the c25k program. Not this app, because it is simply following the program.
It seems to me that it goes far too fast for someone who is inactive, as far as running goes. I've been working out with weights for 2 years. Now, when I started the weights I was really weak, but now I'm stronger than most women my age. So I wasn't exactly totally inactive when I started the c25k program.
At this point the c25k program and I are parting ways. I don't regret using the c25k app, and I don't regret paying for it. It really has helped me. It has helped me not give up during those first few days and weeks, and I've met some people on here who really encouraged me. For that reason, I'm really glad that I had it.

I ordered a short sleeve and got the traditional cut as opposed to the ladies cut. I like regular t shirts better...

I know it will take me some time as well. My goal for a full out 5K run is Thanksgiving Day in the annual "Turkey Trot". That will be the 1 year mark from when I first participated in a 5K
