That's awesome. I remember that being my dreaded day lat time I first did the programme. Seemed scary. After two years off not running I'm starting again on Monday

Twobees reacted to Jschaferhess in Week 5, Day 3 - WTF!!!
I'm the challenge today. Considering you've been successful until now, I suspect it's a mind over matter issue. Believe me when I tell you, your body can do it regardless of what the voice in your head is chanting.

Twobees reacted to Tuxgirl in Question on w5d2 (and beyond)
Awesome. So,I'm gaining a ton of trust in the people who came up with the times for this program. I was totally sure I couldn't do w5d3, but not only did I do it this morning, but I was a ways from home at the end of the 20 minutes, and was feeling awesome, so I kept going through the timed cooldown!!! Ended up going about 1.75 miles.
Seriously, 2 months ago, I didn't think that was possible. Honestly, before I started this morning, I wasnt sure if I could actually make it through the 20 minutes!!!

Twobees reacted to Jeshi in Hi
Pushin60, feel free to repeat any day. Each time you repeat a session, you will get noticeably stronger. I know you'll be able to finish Day 1 soon. I understand that your weight is making you uncomfortable, I am currently 76 lbs overweight. If you train consistently and listen to your body (adjust your posture/stride if you feel pain, slow down to a pace where you can talk, etc.), your body WILL get stronger, you WILL slim down, and if you eat a calorie deficient (eat less calories than your body burns), you WILL lose weight.
It took me a long time before I started loosing weight (even though the inches have been coming off) because I was reducing my calories very gradually.
Pushin60, you can do this!

Twobees reacted to Malunorabuena in And i finally completed my 5K!!
Hi there!! I just wanted to stop by to report that i completed my first 5k in 42 minutes! I feel so happy! I am actually on the 10k program, and it has taken me longer to get there, but, this program is so good, it has really been from the couch to 5k in 13 weeks. No injuries, and feeling so good and strong, despite my lupus! I am going to complete the program to get to run for an hour, i feel i can do anything now

Twobees reacted to Natcatvet in I don't understand w5d3...
It's surprising what your body can do. I too was shocked about the 20 min segment! I just did it slow. Like people say - our biggest roadblock is our mind! Good luck

Twobees reacted to Wendell in craving to run
TB, no, it doesn't matter at all. I guess I had it in my own head to not run one until I could actually run all of it? I've decided I'm signing up for it, and I'm pretty excited about it!

Twobees reacted to llyn in Ex- fit person
Greetings, I used to be very fit but developed Hashimoto's (autoimmune slow thyroid - not uncommon) which was not diagnosed for several years. By the time it was I had put on 30kg, stopped exercising because of the tiredness & (apparently) low iron & very low testosterone (women need it too apparently). 15 years later I am prepared to take up running again after a brief fling in the 80's. As an adult primarily I was a swimmer (60 laps every 2 days) but I enjoyed running & jogging as a kid. I need to get fit again - my life has become very stressful after my intellectually disabled sister has come into my care. I don't normally engage on line but I live in the country & think that I will need help with remaining motivated. So ... Hi!

Hi and welcome! I'm living in a country town also (in Australia) and have never been a runner so I find these forums both helpful and motivating! Keep us updated on your journey

Twobees reacted to Hanoscf in I Did It aka This App Works
I just finished running my very first 5k. My time wasn't great but I'm not letting that diminish my accomplishment. I have NEVER run more than 600 yards in my entire life and with the help of this app, and my husband, I ran a 5k! And I am 60 years old. My husband helped in that he ran every step of the program with me. We'd get up at 5:00 am so we could run, in the dark, before work. I would have never gotten out of bed all those mornings without him. But I can't stress enough how well this App works.

Twobees reacted to Natcatvet in OMG I did it very small victory!
I'm rapt - to understand my celebration know I am 47 overweight and never run in my life. I did week 1 last week and was SOOOO PETRIFIED about running (jogging/shuffling) 90 second blocks. But I read the advice on here - cranked up my iPhone with Meatloaf, and DID NOT LOOK AT THE TIMING ...... Concentrated on the running and music and looking at the river, gardens, birds ....... IT WORKED !!!! Smashed it easier than I thought. Yayyyyyyy. 8.8 weeks to go lol

Twobees reacted to Natcatvet in Week 5 - ok nerves hitting
sooooooo ........ Finished week 5 day 1 (has 3x5 min blocks) and was quietly nervous about the 8 minute blocks on day 2. Then someone mentioned a 20 min run - looked ahead to week 5 day 3 - sure enough a huge jump to 20 min run. Ok so now seriously shitting myself ....... Feels impossible given week 1 I struggled with any jogging at all! Wish me luck for rest of week 5

Twobees reacted to Jeshi in craving to run
Netty, I'm surprised at my own willingness to run as well. I had a fear of running and had resigned myself to being a person "who just can't run." Now, I'm hyped up and feel the craving at least once a day! Yay!
